Who is Amber Gibson?

The death of a teenage girl is being treated as murder, Scottish Police said.

The family of a 16-year-old girl whose body was found in a park is “devastated” and looking for answers, as the police launched a murder investigation.

Amber Gibson, 16, was reported missing in the Hamilton area on Friday, November 26.

It is known that she left her house in the Hillhouse area at 9.15 p.m. of that night and she was last seen on Cadzow Street around 9.55 p.m.

Detective Superintendent Raymond Brown

Detective Superintendent Raymond Brown of the West Scotland Police Lead Investigation Team said: “Our thoughts remain with Amber’s loved ones and we will continue to support them during this terrible time.

“As our investigations continue, we are asking anyone with information about what happened to Amber, or anyone who believes they saw her at any point in her movements between Friday and Sunday, to come forward.”

Chief Inspector Briony Daye, local area commander, said: “I would like to assure the local community that this is believed to be an isolated incident and that there is no risk to other members of the public.

“There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area for the next few days and anyone with concerns can speak to local officers at any time.”
