Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw has lashed out at members of hs own party, warning the Republican Party of the ‘scammers among us’ while closing in on the ‘performance artists’ making headlines.
He didn’t name names, but it comes after Rep. Paul Gosar was stripped of his committee assignments after being accused of glorifying violence and Rep. Lauren Boebert made Islamophobic jokes about a Muslim Democrat.
While his efforts guarantee headlines, he worries some Republican leaders who fear a vocal swath will put voters off in next year’s midterm elections.
“There are two types of members of Congress: there are performance artists and there are legislators,” Crenshaw said during a campaign event in Houston, Texas, on Sunday.
Performance artists are the ones who get all the attention, the ones you think are more conservative because they know how to say slogans so well.
“They know how to recite the lines that they know our voters want to hear.”
Texas Liberty Alliance
Speaking at a campaign event in Texas on Sunday, Crenshaw took aim at Republican critics who personally called him out for voting for what they described as a “vaccine database” to track and punish unvaccinated citizens. As the Conservative legislator pointed out, what he actually supported was a House bill that simply allocated state funds to update immunization information systems.
“He heard online that 80 Republicans voted to track him down in a vaccine database,” Crenshaw told Republican voters at the Texas Liberty Alliance PAC event. “If it sounds too ridiculous to be true, it probably isn’t.”
I’m sick of people lying about this “new vaccine database” BS. There’s no new database. Here are the facts: https://t.co/YSIjaSzy7o

“There are two types of members of Congress: there are performance artists and legislators. Performance artists are the ones who get all the attention, the ones you think are more conservative because they know how to say slogans very well, they know how to recite the lines that they know our voters want to hear. ”
He then goes on to cite data suggesting that Illinois Republican Representative Adam Kinzinger, an outspoken critic of Donald Trump, was actually one of the most loyal supporters of the then-president’s agenda in 2017 and 2018, during the 115th Congress, when the Republicans held both the House and Senate majorities. Then Crenshaw drops the hammer and notes that members of the House Freedom Committee were some of the least loyal to Trump’s agenda. “Everyone,” Crenshaw insisted.
The former Navy SEAL and Afghanistan War veteran specifically called out his party’s far right wing for seeking the center of media attention while openly misrepresenting or lying about policies and laws.
“There are two types of members of Congress: there are performance artists and there are legislators,” he exclaimed. “Performance artists are the ones who get all the attention, the ones you think are more conservative because they know how to say slogans so well. They know how to recite the lines that they know our voters want to hear. ”
Crenshaw has cracked down on speculation that he is considering a presidential bid in 2024. But some see his conservative credentials and independent spirit set him apart as someone who could please the rank and file while beating the independents.
On his part, Crenshaw praised Rep. Adam Kinzinger,
On his part, Crenshaw praised Rep. Adam Kinzinger, hated by much of the MAGA world for joining the Jan. 6 House inquiry, for voting with former President Trump 99 percent of the time.
And his words echoed those used by Kinzinger recently, when he accused House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of pandering to party fringes in order to win Trump’s favor and neglect members of the mainstream. principal.
“These are not the ones you know, you tweet all the time,” he told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” last week.
‘They’re not the ones going to talk about Jewish space lasers and make, you know, crazy, racist jokes just so they can get more followers on Twitter because they don’t take governance seriously.
“These are actually members of Congress who are serious about governance.”
