Nichola Leighton brought her 19-year old son Tyreese Ulysses and his friends to the scene of the attack on 17 year old Levi Ernest-Morrison, in Sydenham, southeast London. It was said in court that Ulises had “rounded up the troops” after learning that the victim was “bothering” his mother.

mother and son have been found guilty of killing teenager Levi Ernest-Morrison with a machete.

Nicola Leighton, 36, took her son, Tyreese Ulysses, 19, and three other young men to the scene of the murder.

She had become “furious” after Levi and his freind kept knocking on her door looking for Tyreese.

When Ulises found out that his mother was being molested, he gathered his friends, all armed with knives, the jurors were told.

They jumped out of Leighton’s “distinctive” red Suzuki 4×4 jeep and some of the group chased after Levi and one of his friends.

Levi was captured and fatally stabbed in Hazel Grove, Syndenham, southeast London, on April 10 a “pre-planned” attack.

Prosecutor Bill Emlyn Jones QC said the attack lasted only 30 seconds.

The attackers then ran back to the waiting car, which sped away, driven by Leighton.

Emlyn Jones said: “That night when Levi and the others knocked on her door, Nichola Leighton was furious.

She “she called the police and told the police that if the boys came back, she was going to beat them.

But before calling the police, she contacted her son Tyreese Ulysses.

“The prosecution says that, having heard from her mother that Levi and her friends had gone to her mother’s house and were harassing her, he rallied the troops.”

Leighton admitted to taking the children to the scene, but she denied being aware that they were armed, while her son claimed they just wanted to scare the gang.

Leighton, of Sydenham, was convicted of murder and possession of an offensive weapon.
