In September 2013, he transferred on loan to FC Vaduz in the Challenge League where he was allowed to celebrate at the end of the 2013/14 season promotion to the Swiss Super League. Muntwiler came on in the scoreless game against FCZ about fifteen minutes before the end; In retrospect, the Swiss Football League Disciplinary Commission rated the match as a 3:0 -forfait victory for the Zürich team.
