Who is Rashaun Weaver?
The teenager who has been accused of fatally stabbing 18-year-old Barnard College freshman Tessa Majors when he was 14 years old pleaded guilty to her murder Thursday.
Rashaun Weaver, now 16, appeared before Justice Robert Mandelbaum in Manhattan’s Supreme Court this afternoon and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with the brutal 2019 murder of Majors, which shocked New York City. York.
DailyMail.com reached out to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and Weaver’s attorney, seeking comment on the plea deal.
Weaver also pleaded guilty to felony burglary, stemming from two unrelated incidents, including the violent attack on a man in East Harlem on Valentine’s Day 2020, two months after the murder.

Police used that evidence to positively identify him as a suspect in the stabbing of Majors. Prosecutors say police leaked that information to reporters, helping Weaver’s mother hide him in various locations around the city amid the search for the college student’s killer. The boy was finally arrested on Valentine’s Day in 2019.
Weaver had stolen from someone else just earlier, according to his own statement in court. As part of that written and prepared statement he delivered Thursday, Weaver admitted to that robbery and another, and intentionally caused the death of Majors.
The attack, two days before the start of final exams at the girls’ school, worried city residents because of its proximity to campus and how random it seemed. Barnard is part of the Columbia University Ivy League.
Lewis said he knew Weaver had a knife and saw feathers flying from Majors’ jacket, but wasn’t sure exactly at what point in the scuffle the stabbing occurred.
Davis told investigators that t was he who handed Weaver the knife that was used in the stabbing.
Majors was stabbed several times in her chest, and at least one of her blows went through her heart. She collapsed on a flight of stairs and was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Four days before the deadly attack on Barnard’s student, Weaver and Lewis allegedly robbed a man at knife point in Morningside Park. Weaver is expected to plead guilty to first degree robbery in that case.
In September 2020, police said Weaver allegedly confessed to killing Majors in a wiretapped phone conversation with her father Clifford Weaver, who was behind bars in upstate at the time for a parole violation.
